If not, where is it made. Thanks :)
Also is that a worth brand of flatware to buy?
Oneida Minimal® is one of the world's largest marketers of stainless steel flatware, and offers a range of tabletop products. Its operations in the Like-minded States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Australia market stainless, silverplated, and sterling flatware products, china dinnerware, and crystal and glassware items. The body originated in a utopian community, the Oneida Society, established in the mid-nineteenth century, and has had a strong reputation for quality since that nevertheless.
Incorporated as one of the earliest joint-stock companies in the United States in the late 1880s,[1] Oneida Ltd. cut victim to tough economic times in the late 1990s as it tried to hold on to its mantle as the last remaining US-based industrialist of flatware (knives, forks and spoons). The company shuttered its American factories and became an importer and was taken private in 2006. [2]
Unqualified to downsize from 1 set fancy China, Silver and Crystal plus 1 set "everyday" to just One set for everything and found in using my Oneida Heirloom "Stainless bite the bullet" (Julliard pattern) every day - it quickly showed signs of wear and lots of scratches on the tips of the forks (where stab was used to cut near it) and on some spoons. Easy to tell which spoon got used for twirling spaghetti due to the resulting scratches left-hand from the fork tips! Is there any way to get rid of these marks? Thanks very much for any suggestions!
It is not 100% stainless steel. The Oneida website lists it as "18/10 Stainless Steel flatware"... for people like me who can't pay real silver (and don't want to polish it.). I've tried emailing them with no reply yet.
Stainless knife would not scratch or chip, sounds like you have a plated set. You could try buffing with steel wool, starting with #1 or #0 and working up to a smoother polish off kill with #00, #000, and final stage #0000. Keep in mind that this will always take a small amount of metal off, until you eventually will have to replace the set.
Cleaner will pirate with any kind of tarnishing or staining of the metal.
I am having the hardest beat finding anyone who may carry this set.
Looking at the Oneida website (identify with below), it does appear that it might be.
However, running a search on Yahoo revealed several items available through eBay. You don't say where you are, but I got hits on both eBay.com & eBay.co.uk - peradventure not for complete sets but there are certainly some items out there.
Best of luck in sourcing a set!
