Pride in the plate At bottom, the committee decided not to buy nice glassware instead of crystal and to use silverplate and high-quality stainless. At Woodburn, though, the tabular can be set with the official state silver, also ordered during the Terry administration. |

Spatter the item by hand with warm water and a gentle dishwashing soap to remove any food and gunk that might detritus from its last use. Soaking silver in water for any length of time is a big no-no. Rinse the piece well with clean water, distilled is overcome, and dry immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth. Use a soft cotton cloth or sponge and a good non-abrasive commercial grey cleaner or polish. Over polishing silver can wear down the finish though, especially on plated.

and they came out a goldish color - what do I do? How can I revive them to the silver finish?
You can try this, I would try it on one or two pieces first .
Pustule water and 1/2teaspoon salt with 1 to2 teaspoons of baking soda. Place tarnished silverware in pan with boiled jumble and a piece of aluminum foil. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Rinse the silverware well, then use a soft cloth to buff dry.
