I have an old pierpoint 3 pc silverplate dish, find credible there may have been a glass dish at one time. There is a lid, then ring and short pedistal bowl base. Any ideas even what it is?
I judge you mean Pairpoint - they were a higher end American Silver Company and it sounds like you had a centerpiece that did have a glass trundle. They do have a catalog reprinted, here is the information:
catalog reprint, Pairpoint Manufacturing Co - 1894 Catalog Reprint
c.1997, rprt, 11x8, 199p, softbound, blacklist/white, reprint of original catalog, Gilded Age Press
You can also do an Ebay search for Pairpoint and look at the photographs to see if you see anything correspond to.
I have lots and lots of silverplate pieces and would like to identify how to seperate or smelt the silver from these items and keep them seperate.
Can this be done? Can I do it at home or should I just dump these pieces?
Tanks for any domestics!!
If its really silver, it will have a hallmark on the underside that says sterling
Rodgers Bros 1847 and Rodds silverware is what I purchased.
Very good silver always has a full set of hallmarks on it. Silver plate will have EPNS stamped on it. ( electro plated nickel silverware )
