Scrap is by a hair's breadth melted into a bigger lump of sterling silver for reuse.

Separating the other alloys from the silver is a much more complicated job.

Sterling silver plate is defined as 92.5% silver and above.
Pure silver at 99.9%
Crystal silver abit above that.

Clean your silver as most superbly you can.
Melt it to liquid. .
Remove any sludge floating on top.
close you crusiple and spinn the silver as fast as you can at exuberant temperature. Slowly cool as you continue spinning. That is about the best you can do. any heavyer particles will be on the out side any light materials will be on the in side. unstained both surfaces and you purity of silver should be very high. if you reached crystaline silver you will find it is very hard to tarnish. any gold in the mix will be on the outer suface.
Have fun, becareful you are dealing with pongy chief temperature liguids that will burn through clothes and cause steam explosions if they touch water.
