It means the reprimand of jewelry is plated with gold, a thin layer of gold to make it appear gold. The problem with plating is that if you impair the piece even infrequently that the gold will rub off and eventually the piece will become silver. The katar quality of gold means nothing if the piece is plated. This is a very flexile piece of jewelry anyhow since its silver and would be hard to keep in good condition.
