What should I get my best friend for her birthday?
Jun 15, 2009 by KC | Posted in Friends
She's like a sister to me. For my birthday, she got me a sterling silver bracelet with "A literal friendship is a journey without an end" inscribed on it. I also got a sterling silver dolphin necklace (she knows I love them) with interchangeable colored glass gems. I don't insufficiency to spend too much, but I still want something sentimental and nice at the same time. My mom already said that I should do a scrapbook of us growing up for her 16th, so that's not an option.
Kay, first of all, what the other people said...wow...no.
If it's her 16th, then get her a largesse she will love. I like to get my friends clothes.
It might take a few days to think of something, but think about what she really loves.
She did the same to you. She gave you a dolphin necklace which you passion. If you think of her as a sis, then you know her extremely well. Take a break and think about it.
Go to hollister or american eagle and get her a cute necklace. They might be a slight bit expensive but at the same time, they're really cute. I did that for bff and she loved it. A purse is good too. It's up to you.
You might want to go around the mall and go in every department store and pick out something cute and adorable.
But still, take a few days and think of what she loves.
Take out a pen and paper and write out all her interests. Then think of ways you could put that into a register.
And another tip, don't put it in a bag. Those are so trashy. I like to put a bunch of "me" into my presents. I decorate boxes and wrapping autograph and experiment with it. My presents are always so cute and they make all the other trashy bags look like sheit. So, once you find the gift, get a box and wrap it. Then put things popping out of it. Put chocolate on the side, wand candy all over it. Friends die for those types of things.

How do you best price your handmade jewelry for a fast sell and profit?
Jun 20, 2007 by fairypikt | Posted in Small Business
all handmade by me, materials, value of, and time spent on vary greatly. also, there is transportation and display costs. an example of what i sell is : 16 inch onyx and coloured agate necklace with a teardrop mother of pearl pendant, 18 inch 3 strand turquoise colored shabby beaded necklace with a handmade one of a kind 30mm sterling silver dolphin and hoop pendant. both took about 2.4 hours to make.
Normally, price is associated with grade, especially when it comes to handmade jewelry. You don't want to price your jewelry too low because people will think perhaps something's wrong with it. Fast sell and good profit are almost like oxymorons when it comes to jewelry. A lot of period and money goes into making it, so don't underprice your jewelry. Of course, this means it might not sell as fast.
You can figure out both wholesale and retail price. Labor is the amount you want to pay yourself per hour. Depending on your experience it can be anywhere from $15 and up per hour. A collective pricing formula is the following.
Wholesale price = (Materials X 2) + (labor X # of hours)
Retail premium = wholesale price X 1.50(50% markup)
The markup over the wholesale price can be as high or as low as you want but 50% is very common. The display and transportation costs cannot be part of the price since those are business expenses. You have to markup your jewelry to the extent that the cost out will cover all your expenses plus leave you with a decent profit.
